Jigging addresses for John Lewis: change every line
For John Lewis, every line of the address needs to be different on every profile. Get that right and the number of profiles going to one address does not matter: one to one, ten to one, fifty to one. A good spread of real addresses still helps, but there is no one-per-door limit to work around.
Why every line matters
John Lewis looks at the whole address. Two profiles where only the street differs read as the same person, so each profile needs every line written its own way: the name, the street and any extra line.
The two things that never change are the house number and the postcode. They are what the parcel is sorted on and what your card's address check reads. Everything around them is fair game. If you are new to this, our address jigging guide covers what to change and what to leave alone.
How many to one?
From our own runs, the ratio is not the thing that gets orders cancelled at John Lewis. Fifty profiles to one address is fine, as long as no two of them look alike.
That said, a variety of addresses is still the better setup. Spread across a few real addresses, you get more different-looking profiles out of each one, and you are not leaning everything on one door.
Not every shop is this relaxed. On Shopify stores and Topps, about two to one is the most to push.
Setting it up in Trackerly
In Jig & Profiles:
- Save your real addresses under Addresses, in a folder for this run if you like. Add alternate names on each one to widen the pool.
- In Generate, switch on the addresses and cards you want, then set Profiles from each address. Fifty is fine here.
- Set Harshness to Medium or Harsh. Medium drops the county and adds names written other ways. Harsh adds initials and invented flats, floors and annexes, so more of each line changes.
- Add Spelling errors, and pick more than one kind so neighbouring profiles differ in kind as well as value.
- Open Preview before you press Generate. It shows every profile it will make for each address, so you can check no two read the same.
If an address cannot give fifty different-looking profiles at your settings, Trackerly says how many it can really make and what to switch on to get more. It never pads a batch with repeats.
Then export straight into your bot's own format and you are ready for the drop.
