Pokémon sealed prices in October 2026: what is above retail and what is under it
The Pokémon sealed market in October 2026 is really two markets. Products from older sets, and anything special, sell for far more than the shop ever charged. Booster boxes from this year's main sets sell for less. If you are buying to hold, or deciding what to sell, which side of that line a product sits on matters more than anything else.
All figures below are US prices from TCG Drop Radar's MSRP vs market table, updated 20 October. UK prices follow the same shape but not the same numbers.
Well above retail
| Product | Shop price | Market |
|---|---|---|
| Crown Zenith Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 | $305.00 |
| Obsidian Flames Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 | $275.00 |
| Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 | $260.00 |
| Pokémon 151 Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 | $150.00 |
| 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 | $139.98 |
These are the products people point to when they say sealed always goes up. Most of them are a couple of years old, out of print, and from sets people actually wanted.
Under retail
| Product | Shop price | Market |
|---|---|---|
| Perfect Order Booster Box | $179.64 | $125.68 |
| Chaos Rising Booster Box | $161.64 | $119.99 |
| Pitch Black Booster Box | $161.64 | $119.99 |
| Surging Sparks Booster Box | $155.00 | $130.00 |
Seven products on the table trade under what the shop charges. Most are this year's booster boxes, which were printed in big numbers. Some will recover once they go out of print. Some will not, and you are paying to store them while you find out.
Why opening packs rarely pays
One number from Double Holo's market brief of 17 October explains a lot: White Flare sealed has a pack EV of 0.52x. On average, the cards in a pack are worth about half what the pack costs. A product can sell well above retail sealed and still be a bad box to open.
Asking prices are not sales
The biggest jump on the whole table is the 30th Celebration Ultra Premium Collection: $179.99 at the shop, $2,500 on the market. That market figure is the lowest asking price on eBay, and the table says so itself. Somebody asking £2,000 for a box does not make yours worth £2,000. Look at what actually sold, in your own country, recently.
Two dates worth knowing
- 29 October: higher PSA Vault withdrawal shipping fees start, which the same brief says may push some vaulted cards onto the market early.
- 13 November: a Japanese Special Deck Set built around alternate art reprints of Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Gengar ex and Mega Feraligatr ex, according to Double Holo. Reprints can pull the original cards' prices down.
Checking your own
The easiest way to know which side your collection sits on is to price it the same way every day. In Trackerly's Investments, cards and sealed are priced from TCGplayer's market price, worked out from completed sales and converted into your currency. Once an item has three or more matching eBay sales in your region in the last 30 days, those take over. A graded copy is never valued at the raw card's price, and See what actually sold opens the sales behind any figure.
Each position shows what you paid against what it is worth now, so the boxes that are not pulling their weight are easy to spot.
